The Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards are on their 16th year of bringing us the funniest photos found in the wild. Today they announced the finalists for the 2026 awards, including 40 individual finalists, plus finalists in the youth, portfolio, and video divisions. These finalists were culled from over 10,000 entries from 112 countries. The images ion the above Instagram collection are far from the funniest. Others include a giraffe with an amazinghead of hair, a bird wearing a flower for a hat, an alligator who is channeling Elvis, and many photos of animals laughing at each other. The winners in several categories will be announced on December 8th. The Grand Prize winning photographer will receive a photo safari in the Masai Mara reserve in Kenya and a bunch of photographic equipment. An exhibition of the winner will be staged in December at Gallery@Oxo in London. See all the finalists in this gallery , and read more about them at Smithsonian .
