New target developed to improve production of important medical radioisotope

ANSTO has developed a more cost-effective way to produce the medical radioisotope molybdenum-99 (Mo-99), with less enrichment of uranium-235 (U-235) and less waste. The porous, reusable targets arebeing synthesised and tested. Nuclear materials research and technology group collaborated with cross disciplinary teams at ANSTO.
