Then I Realize What It Is or There's a Man is a viral TikTok audio setting the song "Alberto Balsalm" by Aphex Twin to a scene from Mulholland Drive known as the "diner scene" where the character Dan explains a bad dream to a therapist, saying, "Then I realize what it is. There's a man in back of this place. He's the one doing it." The audio was uploaded by TikToker @.volt.cc in February 2026 as the audio for a Backrooms related edit. The audio went viral in May and June 2026 as the background track for a lip dub trend where women point out examples of overlooked or unseen misogyny, or social and societal norms that arose from misogyny. The trend is also specifically used to call out thoughts that are arguably rooted in misogyny, such as fears of worrying that you don't look physically attractive enough from a man's point of view. More broadly, the audio is also used to reveal a "hidden puppetmaster" behind something problematic or controversial.
