Propelled by high winds and a tinderbox of dry foliage, the Morrill Fire traveled 70 miles and covered more than 450,000 acres in 24 hours. In total, the fire burned 642,029 acres across Morrill, Garden, Grant, Arthur and Keith counties in Nebraska.
