Cole Hutson scored his first NHL goal with 25.7 seconds left in his debut. It capped a 4-1 win for the Washington Capitals over the Ottawa Senators. The 19-year-old Hutson was in the starting lineup less than a week after his college season at Boston University ended. His goal Wednesday night came into an empty net. The Capitals drafted Hutson in the second round in 2024, and his potential arrival made it a little more palatable to trade veteran blueliner John Carlson at the deadline.
