A former bookkeeper accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from St. Matthew the Evangelist church in Minersville had all charges against him dismissed recently. Schuylkill County Judge William Burke ordered the dismissal of the case against Neil F. Sokola, 50, of Minersville, as prosecutors had filed charges past the applicable five-year statute of limitations, according to a court opinion filed by the judge. Sokola faced charges of theft by unlawful taking, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds and receiving stolen property, all second-degree felonies.
