Australia- and London-listed Aura Energy has welcomed the enactment, in Sweden, of legislation to amend that country's Nuclear Activities Act. Under the terms of the revised legislation, uranium mining is no longer regulated as a nuclear facility, meaning uranium extraction no longer requires explicit municipal consent. Aura points out that this is the second piece of legislation intended to facilitate the development of uranium mines in Sweden and follows the removal of the ban on uranium exploration and mining, which took effect in January this year.
