Police in Philadelphia are investigating after, officials said, a pair of shootings early Sunday left two men hospitalized. The first incident, officials said, happened in the early hours of Sunday, at about 3:20 a.m., when a 39-year-old man was found along the 6000 block of Race Street after he suffered gunshot wounds to his knee and buttocks in a shooting. This man, officials said, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition. According to police, investigators recovered three spent shell casings at the scene and, they believe, the victim was attacked by a man with a thin build who was wearing all black clothing at the time the shooting occurred. Then, about a few hours later, at about 6:57 a.m., officials said, a man arrived at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children after he had been shot. Police did not provide further identifying information on the victim or details of his injuries, but they said investigators believe he was shot in an incident that happened along the 4300 block of North American Street. No arrests have been made in either early morning shooting, but police said, investigations into both incidents are underway. This is a breaking news story. It will be updated as new information becomes available.
